The University of West Florida’s online HR Management Certificate program helps you pursue leadership positions in human resources. Courses and Requirements
UWF’s online HR Management Certificate program includes a total of 12 credit hours. It requires completion of the following courses with a grade of C or higher.

Human Resources Management
Introduction to personnel administration; emphasis on the basic personnel function of both the personnel specialist and the operating manager. Critical issues stressed include selection, compensation, OSHA, EEO, unions and discipline. Prerequisite: Completion of 45 hours of college course work is required prior to taking this course.

Compensation and Benefits
Compensation and benefits play an important role in attracting, motivating, and retaining employees. This course examines how to establish and manage effective compensation and benefits systems that support the organization's strategic direction while also meeting employee needs and complying with legal requirements. Offered concurrently with MAN 5331; graduate students will be assigned additional work. Prerequisite: MAN 3301

Employees are commonly recognized as an organization's most valuable resource. Thus, effectively staffing an organization is one of the most critical managerial responsibilities. This course examines best practices, current trends, legal issues, and research on effective recruitment and selection of human capital so that students may learn how to establish and effectively manage staffing systems. Offered concurrently with MAN 5351; graduate students will be assigned additional work. Prerequisite: MAN 3301

Performance Management
Employees are commonly recognized as an organization's most valuable resource. Thus, ensuring that employees achieve and maintain their highest performance is one of the most critical managerial responsibilities. This course examines best practices, current trends, legal issues, and research in change management, organizational development, performance management, and training so that students may learn how to effectively manage human capital for optimal performance. Offered concurrently with MAN 5347; graduate students will be assigned additional work. Prerequisite: MAN 3301

Admission Requirements
To be considered for admission into the University of West Florida’s online HR Management Development Certificate program, you must be admitted into the University as an undergraduate non-degree seeking student.

Once accepted as an undergraduate non-degree seeking student, students should contact the College of Business and speak to an advisor about course availability and scheduling, and complete the online Undergraduate Certificate Declaration Form on MyUWF.

Tuition waivers cover up to 90 percent of the non-resident portion of your tuition and are available to non-Florida residents (including international students) admitted to online programs and registered for online courses in active pursuit of that degree or certificate. You must pay all other assessed tuition and fees.
Time to completion varies by student, depending on individual progress. Fees are charged per semester unless otherwise noted. This program takes up to two semesters to complete, depending on course availability.

Alabama Differential Out-of-State Tuition
Residents of Alabama are eligible for Alabama Differential Tuition, a reduced out-of-state tuition rate. For more information and to verify residency status for tuition purposes, new undergraduate students should contact the Office of Undergraduate Admissions and new graduate students should contact the Graduate School. Current enrolled students should contact the Office of the Registrar.
Active Duty Military
All active-duty members of the Armed Forces who are residing or are stationed outside the state of Florida shall have all (100%) out-of-state fees waived by the university. Contact the Military and Veterans Resource Center (MVRC) to apply for the Active Duty Military Out-of-State Waiver.

Human resources managers earn a median annual wage of $116,720, and job growth is projected to increase 6% by 2029.
Training and Development Managers
Training and development managers oversee training programs, staff and budgets as they strive to create training programs that align with the organization’s goals. They’ll collaborate across an organization to identify training needs and ensure that training methods, content, software, systems, and equipment are appropriate. Their job growth rate is expected to be faster than average between 2020 and 2030 at 11%. The median wage for all training and development managers in 2021 was $120,130 a year, with those working in professional, scientific and technical services earning a median income of $132,020.
