The Certificate in Human Performance Improvement from the University of West Florida develops your skills in identifying and solving performance problems. UWF’s HPI certificate program aligns to performance standards and competencies developed by the American Society for Talent Development and the International Society for Performance Improvement.

Coursework in human performance improvement examines organizational performance from a solution-neutral position, recognizing that instruction may not be the most appropriate means of improving individual and organizational performance. This certificate requires completion of the following courses with a C or better. Participants must secure a combined grade point average of 3.0 or higher for the course required by the certificate.

Implementing HPI Interventions
Provides students with fundamental knowledge and skills related to the intervention selection, design, and implementation; and change management activities associated with the practice of Human Performance Improvement (HPI). Analyzes potential interventions to identify those most appropriate for identified root causes of performance gaps. Examines models of change management, the role of the change agent and the importance of developing and implementing effective change management plans to insure successful intervention implementation and institutionalization.

Evaluating HPI Interventions
Students will examine the theory and practice of evaluation models and processes as they relate to the formative, summative and confirmative evaluation of instructional and non-instructional Human Performance Improvement (HPI) interventions. Students will develop the knowledge, skills and abilities necessary to plan and conduct comprehensive evaluations based on current theories, models, and best practices.

Provides students with fundamental knowledge and skills related to the performance, gap and cause analysis activities associated with the practice of Human Performance Improvement (HPI). Examines the importance of systems thinking in HPI and the theories and theorists of the field.

Admission Requirements
To be considered for admission to the University of West Florida’s online Human Performance Improvement Certificate program, you must be admitted to the University as either a degree-seeking or non-degree-seeking graduate student.

Once accepted as a graduate student, students should contact the CEPS Advising Center and speak to an advisor about course availability and scheduling. Then, new students should complete the online Graduate Certificate Declaration Form on MyUWF.
