In The University of West Florida’s fully online Graduate Entrepreneurship Certificate program, you will learn how to transform concepts into action. Knowledge of foundational business principles plus coursework in business ventures and consulting will prepare you to lead new business ventures, propose plans and manage outcomes.
Our expert faculty will lead course activities that familiarize you with economic activity including national income, price level determination and economic growth. In your future career, you will be able to confidently evaluate potential business opportunities, formulate viable solutions and present findings to administration. To finish your certificate program, you will create a business plan for a new business venture.
This certificate is only available to graduate non-degree seeking students. Degree-seeking students cannot pursue this certificate.

You Will Be Able To:
- Create and describe new venture ideas.
- Formulate and articulate an elevator speech to effectively outline and sell a new venture idea to a client.
- Recognize new venture ideas and synthesize into a well-structured business plan for a new business endeavor.
- Consult with a small business to assess a real business problem and generate a plan with solutions.

Courses and Requirements
Once all prerequisites are met, the certificate in entrepreneurship requires completion of the following courses with a C or better. Students must secure a combined grade-point average of 3.0 or higher for the course required by the certificate.

MBA Foundations: Managerial Economics
A course in the Accelerated MBA Foundations Series in which students will gain an understanding of basic economics. Special emphasis will be placed on the determinants of supply and demand and the desirable properties of a competitive equilibrium; followed by the undesirable properties of markets with a monopoly and with externalities. Permission is required.

MBA Foundations: Financial Management I
A course in the Accelerated MBA Foundations Series in which students are introduced to the accounting process of analyzing, measuring, and reporting business activity. Explores the precise language, assumptions, concepts, principles, and logic patterns inherent in the analysis and measurement of business activity. Describes the form and content of major financial statements. Briefly introduces the recording and reporting process used by accounting systems and examines basic financial reporting issues.

MBA Foundations: Financial Management II
A course in the Accelerated MBA Foundations Series in which students who have an understanding of financial accounting are introduced to the business relationships that exist between the generation and use of financial information. Includes the role of accounting in measuring financial performance, an overview of financial management, keys to understanding financial information via financial ratio analysis, effective use of financial analysis, and a brief introduction to the time value of money.

MBA Foundations: Financial Management III
A course in the Accelerated MBA Foundations Series in which students with an understanding of financial analysis are introduced to financial valuation and decision making tools that are used by managers and owner/managers of business organizations. The three foundation concepts covered are the Time Value of Money, the Risk- Return Relationship, and the use of Incremental After-Tax Cash Flows. Provides a theoretical understanding and a practical application in financial decision-making. Permission is required.

MBA Foundations: Management Skills and Applications
Covers the historical evolution of management, organizational design, motivation, team building, leadership, change management, culture, strategic planning, and critical implementation/control elements critical to successful management and strategy. Social responsibility, ethics, globalization, and futures are also stressed.

MBA Foundations: Marketing Management
A course in the Accelerated MBA Foundations Series in which students are introduced to foundational concepts of marketing management processes. Provides students with intensive exposure to the basic philosophy, concepts, and knowledge common to effective marketing management.

Venture Development
Students develop the knowledge and skills to begin a start-up business and evaluate it for possible launch. The curriculum includes constructing a board of directors, adding managers for key functions, reaching revenue targets and examining the steps of taking a company public. Prerequisite: GEB 5118

New Ventures
Students will develop the knowledge and skills needed to start a new business. They create potential opportunities, assess the opportunities and evaluate how to seek seed capital through an elevator speech and business plan with an eye toward the profitability horizon. Students are expected to have an understanding of financial accounting and the business relationships that exist between the generation and use of financial information.

Small Business Management Consulting
Practicum in providing management assistance to small businesses in area. Usually students work in pairs and provide assistance to two business firms. Weekly meetings, teaching in consulting and final written report on each firm constitute principal elements. Senior or graduate status, 3.0 GPA and permission are required.

Admission Requirements
To be considered for admission to the University of West Florida’s online Entrepreneurship Certificate program, you must be admitted to the University as a graduate non-degree seeking student.

Once accepted as a graduate non-degree seeking student, students should contact the MBA department and speak to an advisor about course availability and scheduling, and to complete the online Graduate Certificate Declaration Form on MyUWF.

Tuition waivers cover up to 90 percent of the non-resident portion of your tuition and are available to non-Florida residents (including international students) admitted to online programs and registered for online courses in active pursuit of that degree or certificate. You must pay all other assessed tuition and fees.
Time to completion varies by student, depending on individual progress. Fees are charged per semester unless otherwise noted. This program takes up to 12 months to complete, depending on course availability.

Alabama Differential Out-of-State Tuition
Residents of Alabama are eligible for Alabama Differential Tuition, a reduced out-of-state tuition rate. This role involves maintaining budgets and developing proper management and production strategies to maximize the business’s success. The median annual salary for management analysts in 2020 was $87,660, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics.
Business Analysts
Business analysts seek to improve the efficiency of organizations via gathering information, analyzing finances, developing solutions, recommending changes and collaborating with other managers. A certified management consultant (CMC) designation will lead to more employment opportunities. Business analysts made a median annual salary of $93,000, and jobs are expected to grow 11 percent through 2031, much faster than the average for all occupations.
